First Impressions
The Radical Yeti Uncaged comes in a striking black and red pearl look. Inside works the extremely strong symmetric Yeti core, which features a low RG of 2.482 and a very high differential of 0.054. For the cover, Radical relies on a highly polished pearl reactive coverstock, brought to a high gloss out of the box with 500 Siaair and Royal Compound. This combination of an exceptionally early-revving, heavily flaring engine and the low-friction pearl shell should let the ball glide extremely cleanly through the heads and build a very strong, angular roll phase in the backend.
Comparison
Compared directly to the original Radical Yeti with its dull solid cover, the Yeti Uncaged delivers a much longer skid phase and a drastically more angular hook at the breakpoint. Against the Storm Hy-Road Pearl, the Yeti Uncaged offers massively more flare potential in the midlane thanks to its considerably higher differential. When friction on the lane is high and the transition dries up the front part of the lane, the Yeti Uncaged conserves its energy excellently and reacts incredibly sharply toward the pin deck.
On the Lanes
The Radical Yeti Uncaged is ideally suited to lane conditions with medium to slightly heavy oil volume. If you're a stroker or throw the ball at moderate speed, it gives you the option to play deeper lines, since the cover stores energy. The steady drive toward the pocket should deliver convincing carry. On fresh, extremely heavy oil, however, this ball can come up short on traction because of the polished finish and skid too far.
