BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
Released in July 2023, the 900Global XPonent was developed specifically to take on the role of the dependable benchmark ball in the lineup. Visually it shows up in a mix of cyan and black, which gives it a modern and serious look. The technical heart of the ball is the Shrapnel 2.0 Symmetric Core, already valued for its reliability in the Ordnance line. With a very low RG of 2.48 and a moderate differential of 0.042 (at 15 lbs), this core is designed to get into rotation quickly without flaring uncontrollably. This is paired with the Reserve Blend 701 Solid Reactive coverstock. The factory 4000-grit Abralon finish creates a balanced texture that provides enough traction in oil but isn't so aggressive that the ball burns up in the heads right away.
Comparison
The most obvious reference point for this ball is the industry standard Storm Phaze II. Head to head, the XPonent shows similar overall strength, but often works a tick earlier and rounder. Where the Phaze II sometimes still makes a surprisingly strong move at the end of the pattern, the XPonent stays more linear and smoother in its path down the lane. It is less jumpy than a Zen Gold Label and offers more control on sensitive backends. Compared to the 900Global Reality, the XPonent serves as the perfect step-down: when the Reality as an asymmetric ball hooks too early or forces too much angle, the XPonent's symmetric core gives more length and a more flowing move to the pocket. It is also more versatile than a Roto Grip TNT, since it travels cleaner through the heads and stores more energy for the pins.
On the Lanes
The XPonent is the classic first ball you pull out of the bag to read the lane conditions. It works excellently on fresh house shots and medium sport patterns. Its greatest strength is predictability: it smooths out the transition from oil to the dry area and minimizes overreaction to friction. That makes it especially valuable when the backends are very snappy or there is a clear wet/dry wall. The ball allows bowlers of every style to play relatively straight up the boards and find the pocket in a controlled way. It is strong enough not to slide in the oil, but tame enough to stay with the transition for a long time before a switch to pearl balls becomes necessary.
