BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Brunswick X-MAS Rhino Pro Vintage, released in November 2025 as a special international edition, adds another tribute to the legendary balls of the '90s to the popular Vintage series. Technically it is based on the Vintage Light Bulb Plus core, a symmetrical design with a high RG (2.568 at 15 lbs) and a low differential (0.032). This combination traditionally provides easy length and very controlled flare behavior. The upgrade is found in the cover: here the Activator Plus 4.0 solid coverstock is used, finished at the factory with a 500/1000/2000 Siaair Micro Pad. These specs point to a ball that combines the classic, smooth "urethane-like" control with the modern pin-hitting power of reactive material.
Comparison
Compared directly to the Brunswick Teal Rhino Pro (Vintage), which used the Activator Plus 3.0, the X-MAS Rhino Pro offers slightly more traction in oil and a marginally earlier read of the lane thanks to the 4.0 version of the cover, without sacrificing the characteristic length. Against a Storm !Q Tour Solid, the Rhino Pro Vintage is noticeably longer and less aggressive through the midlane, since its differential is much lower (0.032 vs. 0.029, but at a significantly higher RG). It behaves more gently than a Roto Grip Hustle, which often reacts more abruptly to friction, and offers a rounder arc than the modern entry-level balls of the Rhino series, which mostly use pearl covers.
On the Lanes
The X-MAS Rhino Pro Vintage is the ultimate weapon for lighter to medium oil conditions as well as for short or difficult sport patterns where control is everything. Thanks to the high RG value it glides effortlessly through the heads, while the low differential keeps the ball from overreacting at the breakpoint. It works excellently for playing right at the friction edge or for controlling the pocket on broken-down lanes (transition) when stronger balls hook too early. The solid surface smooths out "wet/dry" reactions and produces a predictable, continuous arc that also ensures good carry on tricky pin leaves.
