BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Hammer Web, released in late 2018, was designed to usher in a new era of benchmark reactions in the Hammer lineup. Visually, the ball comes in a dark combination of black, blue and purple. Technically, it is built on the symmetrical Spheroid core, which shows an extremely low RG of 2.48 and a strong differential of 0.048 (at 15 lbs). This core-heavy construction is wrapped in the Aggression Hybrid coverstock, finished at the factory with a coarse 500/2000 Abralon surface. These specs point to a ball that transitions into roll extremely early and reads the lane very strongly in the midlane, without having to rely on a pure solid mixture.
Comparison
Compared directly to the iconic Hammer Black Widow series, the Web differs fundamentally in the shape of its motion. Where the asymmetrical Black Widow often makes an aggressive, almost angular change of direction at the breakpoint, the symmetrical Web offers a noticeably rounder and smoother motion. Against a Storm Phaze II, which also serves as a benchmark hybrid/solid, the Web shows very similar overall strength, but tends to roll a tick earlier and distribute its energy somewhat more evenly over the whole lane. Compared to the Ebonite Game Breaker 3, the Web offers more overall hook and handles higher oil volumes with more authority.
On the Lanes
The Hammer Web is the ideal "first ball out of the bag" for medium to heavy oil conditions. Its dull 2000 surface provides the necessary traction in oil, prevents the ball from skidding through, and smooths out nervous reactions at the end of the pattern. It is especially valuable on fresh lanes or wet/dry house patterns, since it harmonizes the transitions between oil and dry boards. Bowlers benefit from a continuous motion through the pocket that produces above-average carry, as the ball stays stable in its entry angle and rarely overreacts. It serves as a solid foundation before you move to polished pearl balls later in the block.
