BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The DV8 Turmoil 2 Pearl arrives as the direct successor to the popular Turmoil series and shows up in a sporty color scheme of green, silver and navy. Technically, this ball aims to deliver more performance in the mid price range. At its heart sits the proven Turmoil Symmetric core, which carries a 2.528 RG and a 0.047 differential (at 15 lbs). Those numbers promise a healthy mix of length and end-of-lane motion. The key update is the Intense Composite Pearl coverstock. This chemical makeup is more aggressive than the one on the predecessor. Out of the box the ball gets a 500/1000 Siaair sanding and is then polished with Crown Factory Compound. That combination gives it a very smooth feel that lets the ball glide effortlessly through the heads before it reacts aggressively at the breakpoint.
Comparison
Compared directly to its sibling, the DV8 Turmoil 2 Solid, the Pearl shows a noticeably later reaction. Where the Solid reads earlier and makes an arcing move, the Pearl stores its energy longer and creates a more angular skid/flip motion off the backend. Against the original Turmoil Pearl, version 2 offers more overall hook thanks to the Intense Composite shell and responds more readily to friction. Set next to an entry-level ball like the Brunswick Rhino, the Turmoil 2 Pearl plays in a higher class: it has a more dynamic core and a stronger coverstock, which leads to more flare and better carry. Compared to a Storm Match Up Pearl, the Turmoil 2 Pearl often works a bit more aggressively at the end of the pattern.
On the Lanes
The DV8 Turmoil 2 Pearl is ideally suited to light to medium oil conditions and typical house patterns. It is not a ball for fresh oil when there is a lot of volume on the lane, since it would slide too far in that situation. Its strength lies in the transition phase: once the heads start to dry up and stronger balls lose their energy too early, the Turmoil 2 Pearl is the perfect answer. It gets through the dry heads cleanly and uses the friction on the backend for a strong entry into the pocket. It lets you play further inside on the boards and open up the angle without the ball losing power. An excellent step-down ball for the later stages of a tournament or league night.
