First Impressions
Released in February 2017, the Brunswick True Nirvana was designed as the most versatile option within the Nirvana line. Inside works the proven Nirvana Ultra Low RG core. At 15 pounds, this asymmetric powerhouse delivers an extremely low RG of 2.477, a massive 0.054 differential and an intermediate differential of 0.013. These specs produce very fast revving up and enormous flare potential. The key update is the Fortify Hybrid Reactive coverstock. Brunswick combines the traction of a solid with the energy retention of a pearl here. Out of the box, the ball is prepped with a 500 Siaair sand and then brought to a high gloss with Royal Compound and Royal Shine. Visually it stands out with a classy mix of navy, gold and white.
Comparison Within the Nirvana family, the True Nirvana takes the middle ground. Compared to the original Nirvana (solid), it offers noticeably more length and a sharper change of direction at the breakpoint. Where the solid practically "eats up" the oil, the True Nirvana skids more cleanly through the heads. Compared with the Ultimate Nirvana (pearl), the hybrid content gives the True Nirvana a much better read of the midlane; it reacts less sensitively to carrydown than the pure pearl version. Set alongside a competitor like the Storm Lock, the True Nirvana offers a somewhat more continuous, rounder motion through the pins, while the Lock often "bites" a bit more aggressively at the breakpoint. It is basically the "all-weather version" of a high-performance ball: strong enough for heavy oil, but agile enough for the backend.
On the Lanes The Brunswick True Nirvana is an excellent ball for medium to heavier oil conditions. Its hybrid cover makes it an ideal "starter ball" for tournament players, since it provides enough traction not to slide away on fresh patterns, yet stores enough energy thanks to the polish to create a high entry angle into the pocket. It forgives mistakes better than extremely aggressive solids, because it doesn't immediately "stand up" at the slightest bit of dry. It is especially effective when the lanes start to break down (transition) and you're forced to move your game inside. It keeps its power even from steeper angles. Once the lanes get very dry, however, you should switch to a weaker line like the Brunswick Edge or Rhino to avoid rolling out.
