First Impressions
The 2015 rerelease of the Track Triton Heat comes in a striking blue and silver pearl color combination. Inside sits the symmetrical Triton Heat Core (MC2 Technology) with a 2.510 RG and a moderate 0.047 differential. The outer layer is the QR-5 Pearl Reactive cover, sanded to 500 and 1000 Abralon at the factory and then heavily polished to a high gloss. This combination of a legendary, early-rolling core and a low-friction surface should let the ball glide extremely clean through the heads and develop an explosive, massive reaction on the backend.
Comparison
Compared to the Storm Hy-Road Pearl, the Triton Heat offers a noticeably similar but slightly earlier rotation in the midlane. Against the Track Paradox Pearl, the symmetrical core of the Triton Heat delivers a distinctly rounder, less asymmetrical reaction. Once the lane transition sets in and friction on the boards increases, the QR-5 Pearl surface takes aggressive advantage of the developing dry. The hook is steady, but very powerful at the breakpoint.
On the Lanes
This ball reaches its full potential on medium lane conditions. Thanks to the pearl surface it reads the boards late, but saves its energy for the breakpoint. When players start moving to deeper lines, the Triton Heat provides enough reaction to handle moderate angles into the pocket. Carry benefits from the smooth motor. On very dry lanes the ball is an excellent fit, but on extremely heavy oil it slides through uncontrolled.
