BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
Released in February 2017, the Storm Timeless is a genuine one-of-a-kind from a technical standpoint. Its centerpiece is the revolutionary Dual-Drive core. This is a "core-within-a-core" design: the proven Velocity core (known from the Phaze series) was embedded inside a larger weight block. The goal was to combine the energy retention of a high-RG ball with the aggressiveness of a low RG value. At 15 pounds this core delivers a 2.48 RG and a strong 0.050 differential. Wrapped around this complex mechanism is the legendary R2S Hybrid Reactive coverstock, which already created a sensation on the classic Hy-Road. Out of the box the ball comes with a 1500-grit polished finish and gives off the "Ginger Verbena" fragrance. Visually it impresses with an elegant mix of black, blue and platinum.
Comparison The Timeless is difficult to compare with conventional balls because its ball motion is very specific. Compared to the Storm Hy-Road (which uses the same R2S Hybrid shell), the Timeless offers noticeably more "punch" and a quicker backend reaction thanks to the more substantial Dual-Drive core. While the Hy-Road is known for its smooth, arcing motion, the Timeless shows a more pronounced change of direction as soon as it reaches the end of the oil pattern. Compared to the Storm Phaze II, the Timeless travels considerably cleaner through the heads and stores more energy for the last third of the lane. It is, however, more sensitive to changes in the oil pattern than many symmetrical benchmark balls, which makes it a high risk, high reward ball.
On the Lanes The Storm Timeless was developed specifically for the demands of the modern high rev rate game (such as Belmonte's two-handed style). It shines on medium oil conditions and typical house shots. Its strength lies in its ability to skid extremely long through the heads without giving up any dynamics. When the lane starts to break down and you are forced to move deep inside, the Dual-Drive core provides the power needed to come back hard even from steep angles. If you have a lower rev rate, you may find it a bit "moody," since it needs very precise friction at the breakpoint. For power players, on the other hand, it is a precision tool that scatters the pins with unusual violence. On very heavy oil, though, the polish makes it too slippery.
