First Impressions
The DV8 Thug shows up in a massive Blue, Black and Orange solid/pearl hybrid color combination. At the heart of this model sits the asymmetric Thug Low RG Core, which features a 2.505 RG, a strong 0.052 differential and a 0.015 intermediate differential. The cover is the grabby Class 13F Hybrid Reactive coverstock, finished out of the box with 500 Siaair and Royal Compound. The moderate RG lets the core rev up very definitely, while the hybrid cover should let the ball glide very safely through the heads and still build up massive traction.
Comparison
Compared to the DV8 Thug Unruly, which uses a pure solid cover, the Thug grabs slightly later and offers a considerably more stable, more angular reaction at the breakpoint. Against the Storm Crux, the Thug creates a very similar, moderate motion on heavy lanes with a somewhat more defined hook at the end. Once the transition sets in and the front part of the lane dries up, this ball is extremely effective. It uses the friction perfectly to react powerfully and asymmetrically.
On the Lanes
The DV8 Thug finds its preferred territory on heavy lane conditions. It's the perfect choice if you need a ball on fresh patterns that slides easily through the heads and creates a steady hook toward the pocket. The hybrid reaction helps keep you from overthrowing the breakpoint. The ball should secure carry through a clean entry angle. On very dry boards, however, this ball is often too aggressive.
