First Impressions
The Ebonite The One Encore comes in a striking combination of teal, graphite, and violet that makes it highly visible on the lane. Technically, this ball marks a significant evolutionary step within the popular "The One" series, as it is the first to pair the proven Centrex Symmetrical Mass Bias core with the modern HK22 base technology. At 15 lbs, the core delivers a very low RG of 2.466, a high differential of 0.056, and a strong intermediate differential of 0.027. These numbers point to a ball that revs up extremely quickly and has massive flare potential. The cover is the HK22 - GB14.4 hybrid coverstock, finished out of the box at 500/1500/4000 Siaair. This combination of the aggressive "Game Breaker" additive package and the responsive HK22 base should bridge the gap between traction in oil and a quick response to friction.
Comparison
Compared directly to its predecessor, the The One Remix from Ebonite (solid coverstock), the Encore shows a noticeably different motion character. Where the Remix is known for its very early, smooth arc and maximum control in oil, the Encore gets more length through the heads thanks to the hybrid cover and the HK22 technology. That makes the motion more defined and more angular on the back part of the lane, without losing the typical "heavy roll" character of the Centrex core. Against balls like the Ebonite Game Breaker 4 Hybrid, the Encore offers considerably more overall strength and torque due to its asymmetric-acting core (high intermediate diff). It positions itself as the more aggressive companion to the mid-performance balls and as the logical step down from the The One Remix or other high-end solids like the Atlas from Columbia 300 once those start losing energy too early.
On the Lanes
The One Encore is designed primarily for medium to heavy oil patterns. Its ideal window often opens when pure solids start grabbing too early in the heads and lose energy for pin carry. The 4000 Siaair surface lets the ball glide cleanly through the heads, but thanks to the low RG it still reads the midlane early enough not to slide past the breakpoint. If you like playing deeper angles and need to open up the pocket, you'll benefit from the HK22 base, which helps the ball turn back toward the pocket more quickly during transition. It works excellently as the first ball out of the bag on typical higher-volume house shots or as a transition ball on sport patterns once the lane starts to break down. Because of its strength, though, the ball does want some oil in the front part of the lane so it doesn't burn up too early.
