First Impressions
The Radical The Closer comes in a sharp burgundy-and-black look that already hints at its aggressive nature. The ball features a symmetrical core with DynamiCore technology, a 2.54 RG and a 0.050 differential. The cover is the aggressive Ai39 Solid coverstock, the same cover used on the Radical Squatch Solid. Out of the box, the ball comes with a 500/3000 SiaAir surface. The Closer is based on a modified, more continuous version of the original black Ridiculous core, which should deliver predictable and controlled ball motion.
Comparison
Compared to other Radical balls in this price range, The Closer shows more hook than anything else except the Radical Ludicrous Solid. While it isn't as angular off the breakpoint as the Radical Ludicrous or the Radical Squatch, The Closer changes direction harder than the Squatch Solid and considerably more than the shinier Radical Sizzle. With the big hook potential of the Squatch Solid cover and the hitting power of DynamiCore technology, the ball positions itself between the smoother and the more aggressive options in the Radical line. The ball should provide strong motion in the midlane with very strong continuation through the pins.
On the Lanes
The Closer is designed for medium to heavy oil conditions and shows its strengths especially if you need both hook and carry. On heavier oil patterns, power players can play left of the fourth board and see strong recovery and continuation in the backend, while the matte surface provides sufficient traction in the oil. If you have a moderate rev rate, you can play through the third board out to the seventh at the breakpoint, while strokers can work left of the second board. DynamiCore technology should reduce compression at impact, increasing hitting power and creating an unmistakable difference in sound and pin carry. The ball is particularly suited to bowlers looking for a reliable, aggressive ball for medium to heavy oil conditions without giving up control.
