BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Radical The Closer Pearl comes in an attractive Midnight Blue/Silver/White look and is the second release in Radical's Closer series. The symmetrical core design with DynamiCore is wrapped in an Ai-39 Pearl coverstock, creating a technically solid foundation. With a 2.540 RG (15 pounds) and a 0.050 differential, the ball shows a higher-RG character with moderate differential. The surface gets a 500/1000 SiaAir treatment with Crown Factory Compound Polish, which should give the ball its characteristic length. Thanks to the more durable outer material, DynamiCore technology promises less compression at impact and should deliver added hitting power.
Comparison
Compared to the original Radical The Closer, the Pearl shares the same symmetrical core shape, which differs from the weight block series of the Radical Squatch through its higher RG and lower differential numbers. Using the Ai-39 cover from the Squatch line gives the Closer Pearl more length and a more pronounced backend motion as a complement to the original Closer. The components allow the ball to get through the heads easily without running too straight overall. Compared to more aggressive options in Radical's lineup, the Closer Pearl positions itself as a more controlled alternative for medium lane conditions, while other models such as the Radical Results are designed for heavier oil volumes.
On the Lanes
The Closer Pearl shows itself at its best on medium to slightly drier lane conditions, while fresher, heavily oiled situations are a challenge for this ball. Medium oil patterns produced the best results for various player types, especially tweeners and strokers. Tweeners were able to start the ball in the track area and let it swing out to the eighth board before it made its strong directional change. Strokers played farther outside because they needed more friction to get a directional change strong enough for optimal pin action. The ball works well on more demanding, flatter sport patterns, since its controlled backend characteristics are better suited to those conditions than quicker-reacting alternatives. That character makes it a sensible choice if you're looking for a predictable reaction with moderate hook potential on medium lane conditions.
