First Impressions
The Storm Teal 30 draws plenty of attention as an Asian anniversary special release with its bright Teal Pearl design. Inside works the proven symmetrical C³ Centripetal Control core with a 2.490 RG and an extremely low differential of 0.029. For the cover, Storm relies on the highly praised R2S Pearl coverstock, which comes heavily polished to a high gloss out of the box. This combination of an extremely controlled core and a low-friction pearl surface should let the ball get through the heads effortlessly while still delivering an extremely moderate, smooth change of direction at the breakpoint.
Comparison
Compared directly to the Storm !Q Tour 30, the Teal 30 shows absolutely identical ball motion, since the core and cover specifications are the same apart from the coloring. Against the Storm Hy-Road Pearl, the Teal 30 offers considerably less hook potential thanks to its very low differential, along with a much gentler backend motion. When transition changes the lane and spotty areas develop, the cover of the Teal 30 keeps the ball from jumping unexpectedly at the breakpoint. It works excellently on dry patterns.
On the Lanes
The Storm Teal 30 is most at home on dried-up to light lane conditions. It's an outstanding option if you're looking for a reliable and extremely calm ball motion once the lanes have been played on heavily. The symmetrical core creates a small but predictable move, which builds confidence when playing direct lines. The ball should secure carry through a steady entry into the pocket. On fresh, heavy patterns it inevitably slides too far through.
