First Impressions
The Storm Summit World, released in June 2025, expands the successful Summit line with a powerful solid version. Visually, the ball comes in a striking mix of pink, purple and turquoise that catches the eye immediately on the lane. Technically, Storm pairs the proven symmetrical Centripetal HD A.I. core with the aggressive NeX+ Solid Reactive coverstock. At 2.46 RG and 0.056 differential (in 15 lbs), the core numbers are identical to the original Summit, which produces an extremely early revving and high flare potential. Out of the box, the coverstock carries a 2000-grit Abralon finish, which opens the pores and provides maximum traction in oil. This combination promises a very early, round and controllable motion designed specifically to handle heavy volumes of oil in the heads.
Comparison
Compared directly to the original Storm Summit (hybrid), the Summit World reads the lane considerably earlier. Where the hybrid still saves some energy through the midlane, the Summit World digs into the lane surface right away with its NeX+ Solid cover and creates a smoother, arcing reaction. An important reference point is the Storm Phaze II: the Summit World is stronger overall and picks up earlier than the Phaze II, but it offers a similarly reliable benchmark character, just for higher oil volumes. Compared to the Roto Grip Optimum Idol, the higher differential gives the Summit World more flare and covers more boards, so the motion comes across as more substantial overall. It is less angular than a Storm Ion Max, but delivers more continuation through the pins.
On the Lanes
The Storm Summit World is an absolute weapon on fresh and oily lane conditions. It is the first choice when you're playing heavy oil or need to control a sport pattern where friction on the outside edge isn't guaranteed. Its early roll smooths out the breakpoint and prevents overreaction at the end of the pattern. If you throw the ball fast, you'll love the traction, since the ball won't slide through the breakpoint. For lower-speed players it is excellent for playing deep in the oil without the ball looking "dead" too early, provided there is enough oil. As soon as the heads dry up or the transition sets in, you should switch to a polished ball or a hybrid like the original Summit to save energy.
