First Impressions
The Storm Summit Tune, released in October 2025 as a special international release, brings an interesting technical twist to the successful Summit series. Visually, it shows up in a fresh combination of aqua, sapphire and teal. Technically, it retains the strong Centripetal HD A.I. Core, which with a very low 2.46 RG and a high 0.056 differential (at 15 lbs) provides extremely quick revving up and strong flare potential. The key change is in the cover: instead of the tacky TX-23 formula (as on the original Summit or Peak), the R2S Deep Pearl Reactive coverstock is used here. Combined with the shiny "Power Edge" finish, this points to a ball that pairs the aggressive engine of the Summit core with one of the cleanest and most proven cover formulations in Storm's history.
Comparison
Compared directly to the original Storm Summit (TX-23 Hybrid), the Summit Tune is radically cleaner through the heads. Where the original Summit acts as a traction monster and reads the lane very early, the Tune glides effortlessly over the heads. The comparison to the Storm Summit Peak is interesting: the Peak uses the TX-23 Pearl cover, which is chemically stronger and more oil-absorbent than the Tune's R2S cover. That means the Summit Tune reacts even later than the Peak and delivers a sharper, more explosive reaction at the breakpoint (skid-snap). Against a Storm Hy-Road, which also uses the R2S chemistry, the Summit Tune offers noticeably more midlane rev and a higher overall hook potential thanks to the much stronger low-RG core (2.46 vs. 2.57), while staying similarly clean in the front part of the lane.
On the Lanes
The Summit Tune is the perfect addition to your arsenal when the stronger balls in the Summit or Phaze lineup start losing energy too early (burning up). It's ideal for medium oil conditions and for the transition phase. The combination of the rev-happy A.I. core and the clean R2S cover lets you play deeper angles without having to worry that the ball will slide through the breakpoint (since the core brakes hard enough) or hook too early (since the cover is clean enough to glide). It generates an enormous entry angle and works very well for opening up the lane from left to right (for right-handers), with the A.I. technology providing hard-hitting carry.
