BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Storm Star Road, a special international release from October 2025, brings one of the most popular "overseas" classics back to the market. Visually, it comes in a deep, single-color blue. The technical highlight of this ball is the combination of the legendary Inverted Fe2 Technology core (known from the Hy-Road series) with the NRG Solid Reactive coverstock. With a high 2.57 RG and a 0.046 differential (at 15 lbs), the core delivers the typical length and energy retention. The real trick, however, is the finish: even though this is a grabby nano solid shell, the ball ships from the factory polished at 1500-grit. This hybrid strategy of strong chemistry and smooth surface aims to increase traction in oil without sacrificing easy length through the heads.
Comparison
Compared directly to the immortal Storm Hy-Road (original), the Star Road reads the lane noticeably earlier and rounder thanks to the NRG cover. Where the Hy-Road with its R2S cover can sometimes skate over the oil ("squirt"), the Star Road hooks up more reliably in the oil film, yet retains the familiar backend motion thanks to the identical core. Against a Storm Phaze II, the Star Road is considerably longer and less aggressive in overall hook; it acts more as a link between the strong solids and the shiny pearls. Compared to the Storm IQ Tour, the higher RG gives the Star Road more length and a somewhat more dynamic kick on the backend.
On the Lanes
The Star Road is an excellent choice for medium oil and tricky lane conditions where "control" is the key word. The polished nano surface helps smooth out nervous wet/dry transitions: the ball doesn't slide out when it sees oil, but it also doesn't grab too brutally when it hits dry boards. It works very well as a benchmark ball for tournament players who love the look of a Hy-Road but need a bit more safety through the midlane. It is especially effective for playing down the lane once stronger balls start to lose energy.
