First Impressions
The 900 Global Special Ops draws plenty of attention with its Burnt Orange and Gold design. Inside, the Break LD Asymmetric core works with a 2.570 RG, a 0.030 differential and a 0.011 intermediate differential. The cover is the S70 Pearl, brought to a high shine at the factory with a 1500 grit polished finish. Thanks to the very high RG and the low differential, the ball glides remarkably easily through the front part of the lane. These specs should let the ball clear the heads effortlessly and aim for a heavily delayed but precise change of direction in the midlane.
Comparison Compared with the 900 Global Truth, which uses a strong solid cover, the Special Ops shows noticeably more length and a more angular reaction at the end of the oil pattern. Against a ball like the Storm IQ Tour Pearl, the Special Ops offers a touch more asymmetry in the backend due to its asymmetric design. When the transition changes the lane and friction increases, the high RG of the Special Ops keeps the ball from giving up its energy too early. That makes it an excellent choice on drier boards.
On the Lanes The 900 Global Special Ops is most at home on dried-up to medium lane conditions. It's an outstanding option if you're looking for a dependable, clean ball motion once the lanes have seen a lot of play. Despite the smooth cover, the asymmetric core creates a strong angle, which builds confidence when playing deep lines. The ball should maximize carry by moving late and sharply into the pocket. On heavy oil, however, it slides right through without mercy.
