In the core department, the manufacturer continues to rely on the proven DT Dual Density Bell/Flip core. This dynamic two-piece construction is characterized by a medium to slightly elevated RG value along with a high differential. The real heart of this version is the SHD Pearl Reactive cover. With pearl particles added to the mix and a polished surface, the ball glides through the heads almost without friction and stores its rotational energy for the later part of the shot. Only when the ball reaches the dry area and meets friction does the Bell/Flip core show its full effect. This combination should delay the entry into the roll phase, which results in a noticeably more aggressive and more angular hook than on the dull predecessor. Overall, the Dyno-Thane Special EFX Pearl presents itself as a classic ball designed to store energy efficiently in order to deliver a powerful hit in the pocket for consistent carry.
Comparison Compared directly with the original Dyno-Thane Special EFX, the classic differences between solid and pearl surfaces become apparent. While the dull solid version builds traction considerably earlier and describes a rounder, more controlled motion, the pearl variant creates noticeably more length in the heads and reacts distinctly sharper at the breakpoint. If you use a modern benchmark such as the Storm Phaze II, the conceptual and generational contrasts become obvious. The Storm Phaze II, with its extremely strong dull cover, grabs very early in the oil and offers even traction across the entire lane. On the Lanes The ideal scenario for the Dyno-Thane Special EFX Pearl is house shots with medium to low oil volume as well as lanes that have already been played on.
