First Impressions
The Brunswick Soul stands out with a very plain and clean purple solid design. At the heart of the ball works the symmetrical Soul Core with a 2.535 RG and a moderate 0.041 differential. The cover is the classic CPB Reactive solid, finished out of the box with 500 Siaair and Royal Compound. This setup of a medium-early revving core and a smooth solid cover should ensure the ball reads the heads reliably and develops an extremely smooth, continuous hook in the midlane. The cover offers the perfect balance.
Comparison
Comparing the Brunswick Soul with the original Strike King series, the Soul shows noticeably more traction in the midlane and a more agile reaction at the breakpoint. Against the Storm Match Solid, the Soul offers a very similar amount of overall hook, but reacts a touch rounder at the end of the pattern. When the transition changes the lane and friction increases, the symmetrical design keeps the ball from giving up its energy too early. It can be used on the lane for a very long time and stays stable.
On the Lanes
The Brunswick Soul is most at home on light to medium lane conditions. It's an excellent option if you're just starting out or bowling league and looking for a reliable, easily controllable ball motion. The symmetrical core produces a predictable path, which builds confidence when playing direct or moderately open lines. The ball should maximize carry through its continuous angle. On extremely heavy oil, however, the cover often lacks bite.
