BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Motiv Sky Raptor marks an exciting return of the "Raptor" name, but with a technological twist that makes it unique in the Motiv lineup. Visually, the ball impresses with a striking "Sky Blue / Black / Silver" pearl mix that jumps out at you on the rack. Inside sits the powerful Affliction V2 core. What's special: although the Raptor name has historically often stood for asymmetric balls, the Affliction V2 in the Sky Raptor is **symmetric**. At 15 lbs it delivers a very low 2.48 RG and a massive 0.055 differential. That means early revving and an extreme amount of flare. The cover is the new Dynamic Infusion Pearl Reactive, finished with 5000 grit Laser Scanned Polished (LSP). This combination creates a ball that gets through the heads very cleanly despite the huge, rev-happy core, and unloads tremendous energy at the breakpoint.
Comparison
Compared directly to the Motiv Jackal Mythic (an asymmetric pearl), the Sky Raptor offers a somewhat different shape of backend motion. Where the Jackal, thanks to its asymmetry, often has a very defined, almost aggressive kick at the breakpoint, the Sky Raptor comes across as rounder and more continuous due to its symmetry. It covers a similar number of boards, but is often easier to control on tough patterns. Against the Motiv Iron Forge, which was also a strong symmetric pearl, the Sky Raptor offers even more traction and total hook. In the wider market it aims directly at the spot held by the 900 Global Zen or the Storm Phaze V, with the Sky Raptor often revving up a little earlier than the competition thanks to the 2.48 RG, which gives it enormous stability through the midlane.
On the Lanes
The Motiv Sky Raptor is an absolute weapon for medium to heavier oil conditions once the lane starts to break down. It is designed to create angles. When the big solids (like a Jackal Legacy or Raptor Talon) start hooking too early and losing energy, the Sky Raptor is the perfect switch. It skids over the burned-up heads but uses the high differential to keep from sliding out in the oil through the middle of the lane. It lets you move deep inside and send the ball way out to the right. Thanks to the symmetry, the risk of over/under behavior (jumping too hard or sliding too far) is lower than with aggressive asymmetric pearls. It's ideal for tournament players who need a big core pearl that forgives mistakes and throws pins around.
