First Impressions
The Roto Grip Shout shows up in a classic red and blue solid look. The heart of this model is once again the symmetrical Late Roll 46 core, which is characterized by a 2.530 RG and a moderate 0.038 differential. The cover is the 45L Solid Reactive coverstock, finished out of the box with a matte 1500 grit surface. The moderate RG lets the core rev up in very defined fashion, while the roughed-up shell should let the ball glide extremely safely through the heads and still build reliable, smooth traction in the midlane.
Comparison
Compared to the Roto Grip Scream, the Shout grabs noticeably earlier and offers a much more stable, arcing reaction at the breakpoint. Against the Storm Match Solid, the Shout creates a very similar, moderate motion on dry lanes with a flat hook at the end. Once the transition sets in and the front part of the lane dries up, this ball is extremely effective. It uses the friction perfectly to react powerfully yet controlled, without snapping off the edges.
On the Lanes
The Roto Grip Shout finds its preferred territory on light to medium lane conditions. It is the perfect choice if you need a ball on broken-down patterns that gets through the heads under control and produces a steady hook toward the pocket. The solid reaction helps keep you from overshooting the breakpoint. The ball should secure carry through a clean entry angle. On heavy fresh oil, however, this ball is often too weak.
