First Impressions
The Storm Revenant War is a specialized overseas release that hit the market in May 2023, expanding the popular Revenant line. Where the original used an R3S Pearl cover, the Revenant War goes with the more aggressive R2S Nano Pearl reactive coverstock. Inside, the proven Vector Core is still at work with a 2.54 RG and a 0.050 differential (at 15 lbs), providing a stable symmetric foundation. The surface comes with a 1500-grit polish out of the box, which gives it slightly more baseline traction compared to the Reacta Gloss on the standard Revenant. This combination of Nano technology in the cover and the dynamic core aims to bridge the gap between clean pearl balls and stronger solid balls by modifying the typical "skid-flip" behavior in favor of a more controllable arc.
Comparison
Compared directly to the regular Storm Revenant (released January 2023), the Revenant War shows a noticeably earlier reaction on the lane. The R2S Nano Pearl cover reads the midlane more strongly than the original's R3S Pearl cover, making the ball less prone to over/under reactions on fresh oil. Where the standard Revenant often skids very long and then turns sharply, the War offers a rounder but still powerful motion. Compared to a ball like the Storm Phaze II, however, the Revenant War is still cleaner through the heads and stores more energy for the backend, while the Nano additive gives it more safety in oil than conventional polished balls like the Storm Hy-Road.
On the Lanes
This ball is ideally suited to medium to medium-heavy oil patterns, where pure pearl balls would be too slick but strong solid balls give up energy too early. The Nano particles in the coverstock help the ball cut through carrydown without completely sacrificing the aggressive backend motion. It works excellently as a first move when a benchmark ball (such as a Phaze II) starts to hook too early but you don't yet want to move far enough inside to throw a very clean pearl ball. If you throw the ball fast, the Revenant War gives you the traction needed to reach the breakpoint reliably, while rev-dominant players will appreciate the control through the middle third of the lane.
