First Impressions
The Columbia 300 Resurgence Fire turns every head with its bright Fire Pearl design. At its center works the legendary symmetrical Resurgence core, which shows a low RG of 2.460 and a strong differential of 0.043. This core is wrapped in a pearl reactive coverstock finished to a high gloss. The low RG lets the core rev up quickly, which in combination with the smooth cover should let the ball glide through the heads effortlessly and create a massive, angular move in the backend.
Comparison
Compared directly to the original Columbia 300 Resurgence, which uses a dull solid cover, the Resurgence Fire shows a drastically later and far more angular, more dominant reaction. Compared to the Storm Hy-Road Pearl, the Resurgence Fire rolls up a bit earlier in the midlane, but thanks to the strong core it often generates an even slightly more consistent direction change in the dry. When transition sets in over the course of a block and friction on the outside boards increases, the extremely strong pearl surface stores energy perfectly.
On the Lanes
The Columbia 300 Resurgence Fire was developed for use on medium lane conditions. It allows you to generate the necessary hook even from deep angles to cross the boards effectively. The symmetrical core should optimize carry through a steady, heavy and consistent entry angle into the pocket. On extremely dry conditions this ball is completely unplayable; it overreacts immediately and misses the pins. On house patterns, though, it's money in the bank.
