First Impressions
The Columbia 300 Resurgence comes in a classic Black/Gold/Silver color scheme and brings an impressive technical package with it. At its heart sits the Resurgence core, which offers the lowest RG value in the entire Columbia 300 product line. With a 2.46 RG (15 pounds) and a 0.043 differential, this symmetrical core is known for its extremely early revving. The Reflex Hybrid coverstock combines strong midlane traction with continuous backend performance. The 500/2000 Abralon finish creates an aggressive, dull surface, complemented by HyperSHOCK technology, which should support hitting power at the pins.
Comparison
The Resurgence was Columbia 300's first high-performance ball under the EBI umbrella and has developed into a true benchmark ball. One user describes that the ball reminds him of the Columbia 300 Paradox Black, especially in terms of its strong midlane performance. Compared to newer Columbia balls like the Disorder, which also uses the Resurgence core but pairs it with the Bend It Hybrid coverstock, the classic Resurgence shows itself to be the more direct version. Compared to asymmetrical options such as the Columbia 300 Baller with its higher-RG Big Time core, the Resurgence offers a more predictable, symmetrical reaction. The proven Resurgence core is also used in other Columbia balls like the Explosion, which demonstrates its versatility.
On the Lanes
Thanks to the dull, aggressive surface and the low-RG design, the Resurgence gets up to speed in the roll very quickly for all player types. The quick and easy friction of the Resurgence was especially useful on heavy oil patterns. The ball grabs the midlane extremely hard and offers a strong arc through the entire pin deck. The Resurgence is very reliable on heavier oil conditions, which is why it is recommended if you have trouble getting ball reaction on heavy oil patterns. As a typical benchmark ball, it is often the first ball out of the bag to read the lane conditions, and its low RG helps it rev up sooner in the heads. On heavily played or dried-up lanes, however, it reaches its limits and then needs help from a second ball. The low RG and medium differential make it a good choice for all playing styles.
