First Impressions
The 900 Global Respect Solid catches the eye right away with its deep black and red solid design. At its center works the asymmetric Tetra Core, which shows a 2.490 RG, a strong 0.052 differential and a 0.011 intermediate differential. This core is wrapped in the 74 Solid Reactive coverstock, finished with a dull 4000 grit surface. This combination of an asymmetric, early-revving core and a rough cover should make the ball read heavy oil extremely reliably and develop a heavy, hard-hitting roll phase.
Comparison
Compared directly to the original 900 Global Respect, which uses a pearl cover, the Respect Solid offers noticeably less length through the heads and a much rounder, earlier reaction on freshly oiled boards. Set against a ball like the Storm Alpha Crux, the Respect Solid shows a somewhat more moderate asymmetric kick, but generates a very similar, strong line through the midlane. Once transition sets in over the course of a set, the strong cover tends to give up energy too early.
On the Lanes
This ball is a pure specialist for heavy to medium oil patterns. It's the perfect choice to start on a fresh house shot or in tournament play. You benefit from the fact that the ball doesn't skid through the oil. The asymmetric core should maximize carry through a powerful and steady entry into the pocket. As soon as the lane dries up and calls for more backend reaction, though, the Respect Solid has to come out of play, since it then lacks the necessary length and flip.
