First Impressions
The 900 Global Respect Pearl immediately catches the eye with its striking purple and gold pearl design. At its center works the asymmetric Tetra Core, which shows a 2.490 RG, a strong 0.052 differential and a 0.011 intermediate differential. This core is wrapped in the 74 Pearl Reactive coverstock, finished at 1500 grit polished. This combination of asymmetric core and smooth cover should let the ball glide through the heads extremely reliably and develop a very strong, sharp roll phase in the backend.
Comparison
Compared directly to the 900 Global Respect Solid, which uses a matte cover, the Respect Pearl offers noticeably more length through the heads and a much more angular, sharper reaction on dried-up boards. Put up against a ball like the Storm Snap Lock, the Respect Pearl shows a somewhat more moderate asymmetric kick, but generates a very similar line. Once transition sets in over the course of a game, the pearl cover tends to save energy perfectly for the breakpoint.
On the Lanes
This ball is a pure specialist for medium oil patterns. It's the perfect choice for house leagues or tournaments when the front boards start to break down. Bowlers benefit from the fact that the ball doesn't immediately overreact in the dry, but instead lets the asymmetric core do the work. The core should maximize carry through a powerful hit into the pocket. As soon as the lane is fresh and heavily oiled, however, the Respect Pearl has to be swapped out, because it then lacks the necessary traction.
