BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Visionary Raven presents itself visually in an elegant and very classic color combination of black and silver swirls. Technically, this is an extremely versatile bowling ball that serves as the foundational centerpiece of the very successful Raven series. Inside this model works the proven and fully symmetric Ogre HDC core. This specific core design is built to give the driller a very drill-friendly dynamic that is highly predictable on the lane. At a standard ball weight of 15 pounds, the core carries a medium RG of 2.530 along with a moderately high differential of 0.049, which in practice creates strong but consistently controllable flare potential. Wrapped around this engine is the specially developed Implex II Particle Pearl coverstock. This complex cover combines the light, free-sliding properties of a traditional pearl material with microscopic particles mixed into the resin that provide additional traction in oil. Out of the box, the surface comes with a fine 4000-grit finish. This construction should let the ball glide extremely cleanly through the heads while, thanks to the particles, not reacting oversensitively in the midlane, building an even and very strong roll phase.
Comparison In comparative terms, the Visionary Raven shows a very balanced motion profile that neatly bridges the gap between pure solid and pearl balls. Taking the industry standard Storm Hy-Road as a direct external reference, a hybrid ball that pursues very similar goals, fine but important differences in ball motion become apparent. While the Storm Hy-Road delivers a very steady and continuous arc across the entire oil pattern thanks to its hybrid cover, the Visionary Raven generates a bit more length through its particle pearl cover, yet offers an even somewhat smoother and rounder arc toward the pins in the midlane. Compared directly to its in-house sibling models, this ball sits exactly in the middle. It glides considerably more easily through the played-out boards than the extremely grabby Visionary Raven Attack with its dull solid cover, but reacts noticeably calmer and less angular at the breakpoint than the highly polished Visionary Raven Invasion. When the lane moves into transition over the course of league play, the particle-infused surface plays to its absolute greatest strength. It reads the developing friction considerably more gently than a pure pearl cover and thereby effectively prevents an excessive, uncontrollable reaction at the end of the oil pattern.
On the Lanes Because of its specific and balanced construction, the Visionary Raven is the ideal tool for medium oil volumes and typical house shots, where both control and moderate length are absolutely required. The particle-infused cover reliably keeps the ball from grabbing too early or overreacting unpredictably on the backend on forgiving house patterns or so-called wet-dry conditions, where the transition from oil to dry areas is very abrupt. That makes it especially valuable if you prefer a readable motion and need to bring the ball into the pocket with consistent energy. The steady and very smooth buildup of hook produces a solid entry angle, which promotes very consistent and reliable carry over multiple games. If you like to migrate the ball across different boards and move the breakpoint farther outside, you'll benefit enormously from the forgiving nature of the cover. On extremely wet conditions or very long sport patterns, however, this setup inevitably runs into its physical limits, since the ball builds traction too late and could then hit the pins only flat. In such demanding cases, a manual surface adjustment with a coarser sanding pad is highly recommended to get the ball into a roll a bit earlier. Overall, this model delivers an extremely stable performance.
