First Impressions
The Radical Rave shows up in a striking black and green solid color blend. At the heart of this model sits a symmetrical weight block with a medium 2.520 RG and a comparatively moderate 0.043 differential. The outer layer is a solid reactive coverstock, finished out of the box with 500 and 4000 Siaair. This combination of a rev-friendly core, medium flare potential and a moderately rough solid shell should give the ball an extremely controlled start down the lane and generate a smooth, quiet motion through the midlane.
Comparison
Compared to the Radical Rave On, which uses a pearl cover, the Rave offers a marginally shorter skid phase and an even smoother reaction at the breakpoint. Against the Storm IQ Tour Solid, the core delivers a somewhat tamer change of direction. When the transition sets in and the lane builds up uneven friction, the Rave benefits enormously from its flat core dynamics. It doesn't tend to jump off dry spots in an uncontrolled way, but instead evens out the differences smoothly.
On the Lanes
The Radical Rave is best suited to lane conditions with medium oil volume or to demanding, flat sport patterns. If you're a stroker or a tweener, it gives you the option of playing very direct up the boards, since the surface minimizes unexpected reactions. The steady drive toward the pocket should deliver reliable carry, especially when absolute accuracy is required. Once the lane gets extremely wet, however, the ball's moderate differential can leave it reacting too weakly.
