First Impressions
The Radical Rave On comes in an eye-catching red and silver pearl design. At the center works a symmetrical core with a medium RG of 2.520 and a differential of 0.043. The coverstock is a proven reactive pearl surface, polished to a high gloss out of the box with a 500 Siaair pad and Royal Compound. This combination of moderate flare potential and smooth cover should let the ball clear the heads effortlessly while storing its energy for a dynamic, sharp reaction at the breakpoint. The design is focused primarily on length and an explosive backend move.
Comparison
Compared directly to the original Radical Rave, which uses a solid cover, the Rave On delivers noticeably more length through the boards and reacts much more angularly at the end of the oil pattern. Against a classic symmetrical benchmark ball like the Storm Hy-Road Pearl, the Rave On produces a very similar, steady yet still snappy backend motion. Once the transition sets in and the front part of the lane dries up, the Rave On benefits enormously from its pearl cover. It reads friction very late and translates it into an aggressive drive to the pocket.
On the Lanes
The Radical Rave On finds its preferred territory on medium to slightly dried-up lane conditions. It's the logical choice if you have to move further inside on broken-down patterns and need a ball that skids through the dry heads without losing energy. The late hook helps you play steep angles and still generate enough power for solid carry. On heavily oiled, fresh lanes, though, the polished surface simply lacks the necessary traction, which is why it shines as a change-up ball.
