First Impressions
Released in March 2024, the Radical Conspiracy marks the return of one of the most successful cores in the manufacturer's history, paired with state-of-the-art coverstock technology. Visually, the ball comes in a plain but imposing solid black, underscoring its focus on pure performance. Inside works the proven Conspiracy Asymmetric Core, which with a 2.487 RG and a 0.056 differential (at 15 lbs) is designed for a very early revving action and high flare potential. The decisive innovation lies in the cover: Radical uses the HK22+ Solid technology here (HyperKinetic22 Plus). This further development of the popular HK22 blend should provide even more traction in oil through additional additives, without sacrificing responsiveness to friction. The ball ships with a coarse 500/2000 SiaAir finish, which immediately makes its purpose on oily lanes clear. In addition, durability and pin carry have been improved through the integration of DynamiCore technology, which was not yet present on the original version.
Comparison
In direct terms, the 2024 Conspiracy positions itself as one of the strongest options in Radical's current lineup. Compared to Radical's The Hitter, the Conspiracy reads the lane considerably earlier and covers more boards overall, which makes it the better choice at higher oil volumes. Against the Katana Strike (also Radical), known for its aggressive angle off the corner, the Conspiracy offers a rounder, more controllable arc with more stability through the midlane. Drawing parallels to other manufacturers, it fits into the "big asymmetric solids" category, similar to a 900 Global Eternity Pi or a Roto Grip Gem. The essential difference from its direct predecessor, the original Conspiracy, lies in the HK22+ cover: while the core numbers are identical, the new chemistry allows a quicker response to friction at the breakpoint, so the ball loses less energy despite its early roll phase and goes through the pin deck more consistently on the backend.
On the Lanes
The primary application for the Radical Conspiracy is lanes with medium to high oil volume (heavy oil / fresh). Because of the coarse surface and the strong asymmetric core, the ball needs enough oil in the heads so it doesn't burn up energy too early. It works as a classic benchmark ball for the start of a tournament or league night on fresh oil. Different styles benefit from this ball: if you throw the ball fast, you'll find the traction in the Conspiracy needed to get the ball to hook reliably. If you have a high rev rate, you can play the ball deep in the pocket, since the HK22+ cover makes it possible to send the ball well outside (opening up the launch angle) without it "swimming" in the oil or reacting too sensitively to the transition. As soon as the heads start to dry up, the ball may react too early for some bowlers; a switch to a ball with a smoother surface or a symmetric core would be advisable at that point. The Conspiracy is the "workhorse" in the bag, combining stability and control with powerful carry courtesy of DynamiCore.
