First Impressions
The Storm !Q Tour Ruby is a long-awaited addition to the legendary !Q series, bringing the specs of the famous !Q Tour Pearl (Gold) back in an elegant ruby-red dress. At the heart of the ball works the proven symmetrical C³ Centripetal Control core, which stands for maximum control with a low 2.49 RG and a very low 0.029 differential (at 15 lbs). This core is paired with the R2S Pearl Reactive coverstock, which has been considered the gold standard for clean skid through the heads for years. Out of the box, the ball comes with the Reacta Gloss finish. This combination of an extremely stable core with low flare potential and a proven pearl shell creates a ball that generates length effortlessly without reacting unpredictably or overly aggressively at the breakpoint.
Comparison
Compared directly to the classic **Storm !Q Tour Edition** (blue solid), the Ruby offers noticeably more length through the heads. While the solid !Q reads early and makes a very smooth, arcing move, the Ruby skids farther but retains the series' characteristic controllability; it is "cleaner," but not "snappy." Set against the **Storm Phaze V**, the !Q Tour Ruby comes across as calmer. The Phaze V has a stronger core and responds much more sharply to friction, whereas the Ruby handles the transition more gently. Compared to a **900 Global Zen Gold Label**, the Ruby is less aggressive on the backend. The Zen generates more angle and covers more boards, while the !Q Tour Ruby specializes in holding the pocket and minimizing overreaction on difficult lanes.
On the Lanes
The !Q Tour Ruby is the ultimate tool for dry to medium oil conditions and broken-down lanes. It shines especially when the heads are already badly burned up and stronger balls lose energy too early. Thanks to the low differential, it keeps the ball from standing up too hard at the end of the pattern ("over-hooking"). It is ideal if you want to keep control of the breakpoint without giving up backend hook entirely. It serves excellently as a "ball down" when you are coming off a strong benchmark ball like the Phaze II and the lane starts getting jumpy. It does not deliver extreme angles, but rather dependable carry through precision and energy retention.
