First Impressions
Released in September 2018, the Storm !Q Tour GT is a special release (often listed as the international version) that technically marks the return of one of the most popular combinations in Storm's history. It pairs the legendary C3 Centripetal Control core with the proven R2S Pearl Reactive coverstock. The core's numbers are unmistakable: a very low 2.49 RG and a low 0.029 differential (at 15 lbs) produce an extremely controlled and stable rotation. The factory finish of 1500-grit polish lets the ball glide cleanly through the heads, but unlike many pearl balls, the !Q Tour GT doesn't create an aggressive "skid-flip" reaction. Instead, it uses the low differential to minimize overreaction at the breakpoint and provide a smooth, predictable move to the pocket.
Comparison
Compared directly to the classic Storm !Q Tour (solid), the GT shows noticeably more length and stores its energy better for the backend. Where the solid version reads the lane early and describes a very round arc, the GT gets down the lane effortlessly, yet thanks to the identical core ("low diff") it offers the same dependability in the breakpoint area. Bringing the Storm Hy-Road into the comparison, the !Q Tour GT works earlier and more stably in the midlane. The Hy-Road (2.57 RG) skids longer and often reacts more sharply off the end. The GT sits right in that gap: cleaner than a solid, but more controlled than typical high-performance pearls like the Storm SoniQ or AstroPhysix, which respond far more violently to friction.
On the Lanes
The Storm !Q Tour GT is the ultimate "control pearl" for medium oil conditions. It's the perfect choice when the lane starts to change ("transition") and the heads dry up. In situations where stronger balls burn up their energy too early ("roll out") and carry suffers, the GT is the answer: it gets through the dry heads without trouble but avoids the unpredictable jump off the end of the pattern that many other shiny balls show. It lets you open up your line a bit without having to worry about an "over/under" effect. For tournament bowlers it's often the safety net on tricky lanes, since it keeps the entry angle into the pocket small but extremely consistent.
