First Impressions
The 2021 Ebonite Puma comes in a sharp copper and black pearl look that represents a modern take on the classic. Technically, the ball pairs the symmetrical Puma core (2.525 RG, 0.036 differential) with the GB 10.7 Pearl coverstock. The 500/1000/1500 SiaAir plus Crown Factory Polish surface gives the ball its characteristic length and sharp backend behavior. Core and cover were slightly modified to work optimally on today's lane conditions.
Comparison
The GB 10.7 Pearl cover was already used on the 2015 Ebonite Game Breaker 2 Gold, which gives the Puma a proven foundation. The combination of core and cover allows noticeably straighter lines than any other Ebonite release since the Turbo/R. Where stronger balls often overreact at the end of the pattern, the Puma offers a controlled alternative thanks to its length. Even on dry patterns, the ball allows you to keep your normal release and still show good motion, while the extra length helps it stay in the pocket.
On the Lanes
The Puma is designed for light to medium oil conditions and delivers length with a strong backend. It proves especially indispensable on broken-down, hooking lanes. The medium hookability and pocket control appeal particularly to bowlers with medium to higher ball speeds and medium to high rev rates. The ball also performs excellently at slower ball speeds or on broken-down lane conditions. Its behavior improves as the lane transition progresses, which makes it a versatile weapon in the arsenal. The pearl reaction should deliver consistent lines to the pocket and good carry.
