First Impressions
The Brunswick Prism Solid comes in an eye-catching color combination of green, aqua and black and belongs to Brunswick's most advanced Pro technology featuring the strongest core and cover combinations. At its heart is the new ultra-low RG Portal core with an RG of 2.465, a differential of 0.051 and an intermediate differential of 0.018 at 15 pounds. The cover is the new ACT Solid, the latest innovation in the Activator coverstock formula, finished at 360/500/2000 SiaAir, which gives it a very coarse texture. The ball also makes use of Brunswick's DOT and DynamiCore technologies.
Comparison
In testing, the Prism Solid proved so aggressive that all testers had to abandon their usual lines and move left in order to control the ball. The Prism Solid sits a step above the Brunswick Prism Hybrid at heavier oil volumes, with the Prism Solid designed for heavy oil conditions while the Prism Hybrid handles transition and broken-down or lighter oil volumes. Compared to other high-performance balls, the Prism Solid should offer enormous hook potential along with the strength to get through high oil volumes. With a reaction shape strength of 90 on Brunswick's 1-100 scale, it positions itself as an extremely reactive ball at the top of the line.
On the Lanes
The Prism Solid is meant to cover any heavy oil condition and is aimed particularly at bowlers who need earlier hook on the lane, whether because of oilier conditions or lower rev rates. The coarse surface provides strong traction through the oil, which makes it a first choice for lanes with high oil volume. The recommendation is for heavy oil conditions, keeping in mind that the box surface dries up the heads relatively quickly. The DynamiCore technology should produce less compression at impact, which increases hitting power and delivers better carry. Brunswick backs it with an industry-leading 4-year warranty, which underscores the confidence in its durability.
