First Impressions
The Radical Primo Solid comes in a classic Blue and Black Solid color combination. At the heart of this model beats a symmetrical engine with a 2.483 RG and a solid 0.048 differential. The outer layer consists of a strongly gripping solid reactive coverstock, sanded at the factory to 500 and 4000 Siaair. This combination of an early-rolling core and the matte cover should let the ball get safely through the heads while delivering a very dependable, strong and steady reaction in the midlane. It is designed as a strong benchmark ball.
Comparison
Compared to the Radical Primo Pearl, the Primo Solid offers noticeably less length and a far more controlled, more arcing backend reaction. Next to the Storm Phaze II, the Primo Solid delivers an extremely similar, smooth change of direction that is ideal for reading heavy oil distributions. When friction on the lane increases and the transition dries up the front part of the lane, this ball reacts predictably and without nasty surprises. It stores its energy moderately and provides a dependable hook.
On the Lanes
The Radical Primo Solid is best suited to lane conditions with medium to heavy oil volume. For strokers and tweeners it offers the option of playing direct or slightly more open lines on fresh patterns, since the surface finds excellent hold in the heads. The steady drive toward the pocket should deliver convincing carry, as the ball rolls continuously through the pin deck. Once the lane dries up, however, the ball can pick up a bit early. In those moments a duller or polished cover is advisable.
