BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Storm Prime Gate, released in November 2025 as part of the internationally renowned Gate series, comes in a high-contrast black and fuchsia look. At the heart of this ball sits the proven asymmetric Ignition Core, known for its enormous revving tendency with a low 2.49 RG, a high 0.052 differential and a strong 0.019 intermediate differential (at 15 lbs). Wrapped around this powerful engine is the XT Solid Reactive coverstock. What sets this release apart is the factory "Xtra Shine" finish on the solid shell. This combination of chemically tacky solid material and a mechanically smooth surface aims to tame the aggressiveness of the core through the heads without completely sacrificing midlane read.
Comparison
Compared directly to the legendary Storm Gate One, which used a pearl cover, the Prime Gate shows a slightly earlier and smoother reaction to friction. Where pure pearl balls on the Gate platform often react extremely angularly, the polished solid shell of the Prime Gate rounds off the transition from skid to hook a bit, which makes it more predictable. Against a Storm Phaze II, the Prime Gate generates considerably more length and a noticeably steeper entry angle into the pocket thanks to the polish and the asymmetric core. Compared to the Storm Absolute Power, the Prime Gate offers quicker rev-up thanks to the Ignition Core and stands up faster at the end of the pattern, so it comes across as more dynamic down the lane.
On the Lanes
The Prime Gate is an excellent solution for medium to slightly oily lanes, or for the transition phase once the oil in the heads has started to thin out. The strength of this ball lies in the hybrid-like reaction of the polished solid shell: it glides cleanly through the heads but avoids the notorious over/under behavior that pure pearl balls can show on fresh backends. It offers enough traction not to slide through the breakpoint, yet the polish preserves enough energy for explosive carry. It's ideal if you like to play deep inside and need a dependable recovery that forgives mistakes in your launch angle.
