First Impressions
The Motiv Primal Rage Remix comes in an extremely menacing black and red solid color blend. At the heart of this model beats the asymmetric Impulse V2 motor, which carries a 2.550 RG and a strong 0.050 differential. The outer layer consists of the extremely tacky Raw Fusion Solid coverstock, heavily roughened out of the box with 4000 grit LSS. This combination of a somewhat later-revving motor and the aggressive surface should allow the ball to generate length in the heads while still delivering a massive, heavy asymmetric roll phase.
Comparison
Compared to the original Motiv Primal Rage, which has a pearl cover, the Remix offers noticeably more early traction and a far steadier reaction in heavy oil. Against the Storm Alpha Crux, the Remix delivers similarly strong midlane control, though with a bit more length due to the higher RG. When friction on the lane increases and the transition dries up the front part of the lane, this ball reacts extremely sensitively. It is a true specialist for long, oily patterns.
On the Lanes
The Motiv Primal Rage Remix is ideally suited to lane conditions with extreme oil volume. For strokers and tweeners it offers the chance to play stable lines on freshly oiled patterns, since the surface finds immense hold in the midlane. The steady drive toward the pocket should deliver convincing carry, as the ball rolls heavily through the pin deck. Once the lane dries up, however, the ball can hit flat from too much traction. In those situations a polished cover is strongly advised.
