First Impressions
The Storm Power Solution is a classic overseas release (international model) that occasionally makes its way to the European market as well. It continues the popular "Solution" line and shows up in a striking color combination of "Maroon, Midnight & White." As usual with Storm, the visual experience is underscored by a fragrance, here "Blood Orange" (or Orange Glaze). Technically, this ball is an absolute powerhouse: inside works the asymmetric RAD-A core (RG 2.52, diff 0.051, int. diff 0.014), which represents a further development of the legendary RAD technology (known from the X-Factor and Virtual Energy series). The cover is the high-performance NeX Pearl Reactive material (Nano Extreme), finished with a 1500-grit polish. This combination of grabby nano chemistry and polish promises that the ball won't simply skid over the oil, but instead has enormous stability through the midlane despite the shine.
Comparison
In a direct comparison to the original Storm Solution (often with ReX Pearl), the Power Solution comes across as somewhat earlier and grabbier thanks to the NeX cover. NeX (known from the Axiom Pearl or Infinite PhysiX) is chemically more aggressive than ReX or R2S, which means the Power Solution handles more oil than typical pearl balls. It behaves very similarly to the Storm Infinite PhysiX, but the RAD-A core gives it a somewhat different shape at the breakpoint — often a little quicker in rotation than the very round Atomic core of the PhysiX. Compared to a Storm Dark Code, the Power Solution offers a heavier roll; it is less snappy and instead pushes through the pins with more continuation. It closes the gap between a "monster solid" (like the Proton PhysiX) and a clean pearl (like the Phaze V).
On the Lanes
The Storm Power Solution is the ideal choice for medium to heavier oil conditions where you still want to generate length. It is not a ball for dry lanes or burned heads, since the strong NeX cover would start working too early there. Its specialty is the transition: if you started with a dull solid and have to move your line inside ("move left"), the Power Solution offers the perfect blend. It gets through played-in heads cleaner than a solid, but has enough teeth not to skid out in the oil in the middle of the lane. It lets you play steep angles, and thanks to the asymmetric core it provides enough torque to take out the corner pins on flat hits as well (carry).
