BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Radical Power Hitter arrives as the third ball in the successful Hitter series and combines an eye-catching Black/Caramel/Blue color scheme with proven technology. This asymmetric ball uses the established Hitter core with a 2.488 RG, a 0.053 differential and a 0.015 intermediate differential in 15 pounds. This core configuration should deliver a controlled yet powerful ball reaction. The decisive feature is the HK22C Textured Hybrid coverstock, which represents a further development of the proven HyperKinetic22 technology. The "Textured" component adds particles to the coverstock that are meant to create additional traction. Out of the box, the ball comes with a 500/1000/1500 Siaair Factory Compound surface, designed for a balanced blend of length and backend reaction. The Brunswick DynamiCore technology in the outer core promises improved durability and pin carry. Visually the ball looks somewhat unspectacular at first, but once it is rolling it shows an appealing swirl effect created by the three color components. The finish quality meets the usual Radical standard, complete with the characteristic yellow logo.

Comparison
Compared directly to the original Hitter, the Power Hitter should offer noticeably more hook potential while still remaining more controllable than many other asymmetric balls. Against the Hitter Pearl, the Power Hitter positions itself as the middle option between the strong, continuous reaction of the original and the longer, sharper motion of the pearl version. In test comparisons with Motiv's Jackal EXJ, similar reaction patterns emerged, with both hybrids showing comparable cleanliness through the oil. Thanks to its wider availability and its expected lower price, the Power Hitter could be an interesting alternative. The HK22C technology differs from other current coverstocks through its textured component, which is intended to encourage a gradual hook development instead of the sharp backend reaction common to many modern balls. That places the ball between aggressive solid coverstocks and the very clean pearl versions.

On the Lanes
The Power Hitter appears to be designed above all for players with medium rev rates and moderate ball speeds. If you have a lower rev rate and often struggle with asymmetric balls, you could benefit from the controlled reaction, since this ball is less prone to rolling out early than other asymmetric designs. On fresh house shots the ball should work well with the Factory Compound surface, offering enough length through the oil while still developing enough backend motion for a strong entry into the pocket. With higher oil volume, a surface adjustment to 2000 or 4000 grit could optimize performance. The ball handles transition well thanks to its moderate response to changes in friction. You can play it more directly or use bigger angles without extreme reactions showing up. The option to vary ball speed widens the range of use even further. If you are rev-dominant, test the ball first at medium to higher ball speeds, since the HK22C technology may react too early when the ball is thrown too slowly. If you throw the ball fast, you will generally find a wider window of use. The Power Hitter positions itself as a versatile all-rounder for tournament play and league, one that should perform on sport patterns as well as on house shot conditions. Through its combination of controllability and hook potential, it could be especially interesting if you are looking for a dependable asymmetric ball for a variety of lane conditions without having to make extreme adjustments to your own game.
