First Impressions
The DV8 Polyester draws every eye with its extremely smooth, all-of-one-piece design. At its center works a simple 3-piece pancake core with an extremely high RG and a very low differential. This core is wrapped in a pure polyester coverstock finished to a high gloss. The extremely high RG keeps the core from rotating much, which in combination with the smooth cover should make the ball get into a roll extremely late and produce a very straight, completely reactionless motion.
Comparison
Compared directly to strong pearl balls, the DV8 Polyester doesn't grab at all and offers an absolutely dead-straight reaction at the breakpoint. Against the Storm Ice Storm, the polyester behaves extremely similarly on dry lanes and provides no hook. As soon as the transition sets in and the front part of the lane dries up, this ball is unimpressed. It calls for direct lines to carry its momentum into the pins, without hooking even an inch.
On the Lanes
The DV8 Polyester is most at home as a spare ball. It's an outstanding option if you need a ball on any pattern that slides easily through the heads and creates no hook toward the pocket. The flat reaction helps you hit the breakpoint precisely and directly. The ball should make your carry on spares absolutely dependable. For the first ball at strikes, however, it is completely unusable.
