BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The DV8 Poison Pearl comes in an eye-catching Radium Green and uses the symmetrical Toxicity core with an RG of 2.564 at 15 pounds and a differential of 0.054. This is the second ball to feature the Toxicity core, which already saw duty in the original Poison. Instead of the original's solid sanded surface, the Poison Pearl gets a pearlized Toxin-SF formulation with a factory finish of 500/1000 SiaAir and Crown Factory Compound. The construction is said to use 3.5 times more cover material for improved durability and longevity. Hook potential is rated at 220 on a scale of 1-225, while length is listed at 125 on a scale of 1-235.
Comparison
Compared directly to the original DV8 Poison, the pearl version offers more length and a stronger angle at the breakpoint thanks to the revised surface prep and the pearlized coverstock. If you're looking for a smoother breakpoint reaction than the DV8 Prowlers or the DV8 Hitman Enforcer provide, the Poison Pearl should be a fitting alternative. The Toxin-SF Pearl surface allows a stronger backend reaction than the original Poison. The pearlized coverstock should be better suited to medium lengths and medium volume patterns across most styles. The distinctive green color sets it clearly apart from other DV8 releases and makes the ball visually unmistakable.
On the Lanes
The polished surface should help the ball move easily through the heads on medium to light oil. Testing showed that the Poison Pearl let all player types play their preferred parts of the lane, with tweeners and crankers getting a bit more forgiveness in the backend than strokers. The ball motion is characterized as "length with flip" and recommended for medium to light oil conditions. The Toxicity core is said to deliver a "contagious flip," which points to a pronounced backend reaction. If you're after a controlled reaction with sufficient length and a sharp backend hook, the Poison Pearl could be an interesting option in medium oil. Its pearlized cover makes it particularly suitable for medium lengths and medium volume patterns across various styles.
