The Storm Pitch Out fits seamlessly into the tradition of urethane-like control balls and comes in an understated design. At the heart of this model works a symmetrical weight block with a moderate RG and a very low differential. The cover is a modified urethane blend with a smoother texture than conventional pure urethane balls. These specs should keep the ball extremely controllable and produce a classic, arcing motion. Thanks to the special cover formulation, the ball bites into the oil predictably without showing any unexpected jerkiness at the breakpoint.
Comparison Compared directly to the legendary Storm Pitch Black, the Pitch Out offers slightly more length through the heads and a marginally smoother reaction on dry boards due to its minimally adjusted surface. Set against a reactive ball like the Storm Phaze II, the Pitch Out shows a massively weaker hook and creates a completely different, much rounder line. As the transition sets in over the course of a game, the Pitch Out tends to spread the oil evenly down the lane, which can change the friction for the bowlers who follow.
On the Lanes This ball is a pure specialist for short oil patterns or extremely demanding, flat lane conditions. It is the perfect choice for precisely controlling speed and angle into the pocket. If you have a high rev rate, you'll benefit from the fact that the ball doesn't overreact. The symmetrical core should keep carry predictable through a consistent hit. As soon as the lane calls for more backend reaction, though, the Pitch Out has to come out of play, since it lacks dynamic punch.
