First Impressions
The Storm PhysiX Power Elite IV shows up in an eye-catching pink-purple color scheme and represents the fourth iteration of the successful Power Elite series, released internationally in November 2024. At its heart sits the proven asymmetric Atomic Core with a low RG of 2.48 (15 lbs) and a differential of 0.053, complemented by an intermediate differential of 0.017. The distinctive oval-bolt construction at the center of the core should produce a particularly center-heavy mass distribution, which lets the ball be revved up with less effort and gives it less resistance to changes in direction. The cover is NeX Hybrid Reactive, an evolution of the long-running NRG technology. It has been enriched with Nano Extreme additives and combines solid and pearl components in a hybrid approach. The factory surface is polished with Reacta Gloss, giving the ball a shiny appearance. The ball carries a mango-mandarin scent and offers high flare potential of more than 6 inches.
Comparison The PhysiX series has built a remarkable reputation for exceptional pin action since its introduction more than five years ago. The Power Elite IV positions itself within this product family as the more versatile variant for medium oil volumes, while the original PhysiX, with its NRG Hybrid cover and 3000-grit Abralon finish, was designed primarily for heavier oil patterns. Compared to the Storm Infinite PhysiX, which comes with a ReX Pearl cover and 4000-grit Abralon, the Power Elite IV should offer more length through the heads thanks to its polished NeX Hybrid surface, while still reading earlier than polished pearl variants. According to the manufacturer, the NeX coverstock technology generates 11 percent more entry angle and 9.6 percent more total hook than the previous NRG material after 50 shots, without giving up backend potential. Within the Power Elite line, the fourth version sets itself apart through the modified pearl configuration in the hybrid coverstock as well as the polished surface, making it a bridge between more aggressive solid versions and purely polished pearl variants.
On the Lanes The PhysiX Power Elite IV was developed specifically for medium to slightly heavier oil conditions and is meant to accommodate a range of release styles. The combination of low RG and substantial differential allows the ball to rev up early, while the polished hybrid surface should provide controlled length through the front part of the lane. If you throw at moderate ball speed in particular, you could benefit from the quick-revving character of the Atomic Core, since less initial energy is needed to get it rotating.
