First Impressions
The 900 Global Phantom Cruise, a special international release from December 2025, brings a dark, aggressive aesthetic to the popular Cruise series. Technically, this ball marks a significant step forward: it pairs the proven asymmetric Ellipticon A.I. Core (Amplified Inertia) with the brand-new Reserve Blend 93 Pearl (RB93) coverstock. The core delivers extremely strong motor numbers with a low 2.48 RG, a massive 0.056 differential and a 0.030 intermediate diff (at 15 lbs). The factory finish is especially noteworthy: instead of the high-gloss polish typical for pearls, the Phantom Cruise comes out of the box with a 3000-grit Abralon surface. This dull pearl configuration points to a ball that doesn't just skid and kick, but already reads the lane aggressively in the midlane.
Comparison
Compared directly to its predecessor, the 900 Global Cruise GPT, the Phantom Cruise feels noticeably more stable and earlier in its reaction. Where the GPT skids longer and reacts more angular at the breakpoint thanks to its Reacta Gloss polish and the somewhat weaker RB90X shell, the Phantom Cruise digs through the oil earlier thanks to the 3000-grit surface and the RB93 blend. Against a 900 Global Zen Gold Label, it offers substantially more overall hook and is less prone to over/under reactions on fresh oil. It behaves similarly to a slightly cleaner Storm DNA Coil, but the A.I. technology in the core provides even more forceful energy transfer at the pin deck.
On the Lanes
The Phantom Cruise is an excellent choice for medium to heavy oil patterns. Through the combination of a pearl cover and a dull finish, it fills the gap between pure snowplow solids (like the Reality) and shiny skid/flip balls. It's ideal as a first ball on fresh lanes when you want the cleanliness of a pearl shell through the heads but can't give up the braking effect in the midlane needed to hit the pocket under control. The strong asymmetric core makes sure the ball still makes the necessary change of direction and delivers explosive carry even with steep entry angles or a lot of oil in the middle.
