BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Pyramid Pathogen Plague presents itself as a specialized urethane ball for super-low oil conditions, featuring the GPS Navigational Urethane coverstock. The symmetrical New Era 139 core carries a 2.54 RG and a 0.032 differential, with a flare potential of 3-4. The factory surface is 1000 Abralon. Lighter urethane swirls on the ball are a normal part of the manufacturing process and do not affect ball reaction. As Pyramid's first urethane ball, it serves as both a nod to the old school and a study piece for modern bowlers.
Comparison
The urethane cover lets the ball stay in the track much longer than a resin ball, provides easy length, and retains speed well. Compared to the Black Widow Urethane, the Pathogen Plague plays like a normal urethane ball, while the Widow can be swung thanks to its stronger core. Although it won't forgive major misses in or out, it offers more recovery than expected and good hold, though without the Brooklyn frequency of a resin ball. Urethane has the advantage of hooking early and being able to roll through carrydown, while reactive balls run into trouble on undefined backends.
On the Lanes
The ball reads the lanes early and makes a smooth transition from skid to hook to roll, which allows for controlled and predictable ball motion. On full hits it shows good carry with the classic "ten in the pit" strike, and on lighter hits the pins bounce around well for strikes or easy spare leaves. Playing tighter angles and straighter lines, as with classic urethane balls, should help take out the corner pins. For use on fresh lanes, the 1000 surface should be the minimum. It's important to wipe the oil off with a leather towel after every shot to ensure consistent ball motion. The ball shows a solid roll into the pins with signature strikes that send the pins flying back into the pit.
