First Impressions
The Pyramid Path is a classic entry-level and spare ball that stands out with its high-gloss look and an exceptionally wide range of colors. Technically the ball is very simple, but extremely effective and purpose-built. At its center works a traditional, symmetrical pancake core. This classic core shape is characterized by a very high RG and an extremely low differential. This specific combination is aimed at keeping the ball's own dynamics and its flare potential as low as possible. The coverstock is pure, hard polyester. The surface comes polished to a high gloss out of the box with a High Polish finish, which gives the ball an extremely smooth and durable texture. This mirror-smooth surface combined with the completely non-reactive cover reduces friction on the lane surface to an absolute minimum. Visually it usually shows up in lively, multi-colored swirl designs that give good feedback about the release as the ball rotates down the boards. The entire design is strictly built so that the ball stoically holds its line without being influenced by the oil pattern in front of it.
Comparison In a direct comparison on the lane, the Pyramid Path behaves extremely similarly to other industry standards in this category, for example the Brunswick T-Zone or the Storm Ice. All of these models rely on a hard polyester cover and a simple pancake core, which makes the ball motion nearly identical. While a reactive entry-level ball like the Storm Tropical Surge already builds friction relatively early and develops a clear hook toward the pocket at the breakpoint, the Pyramid Path remains completely unimpressed by dry or heavily oiled zones. The ball glides absolutely effortlessly through the heads and shows no noteworthy transition even at the end of the oil pattern when the lane dries up. Compared to the Brunswick T-Zone or the Columbia 300 White Dot, there are no measurable advantages or disadvantages on the lane in terms of playability. The decision between these balls usually comes down purely to looks or price. Anyone looking for a ball that produces an aggressive hook won't find it here, because the combination of core and cover was designed by the developers for exactly one purpose: to play no arc at all and instead convert the energy applied purely into forward motion.
On the Lanes The ideal and most common use case for this ball is classic spare shooting. For that reason, advanced players, tournament players and pros keep it in the arsenal almost exclusively as a pure spare ball. When it comes to reliably picking off single pins across the boards on the opposite side, the ball should guarantee a dead-straight path that takes the oil pattern completely out of play. Beginners and casual bowlers also benefit enormously from the predictable nature of this model, since the ball doesn't overreact on extremely dry house lanes and is therefore very easy to control. Because there is almost no real hook potential, you have to line the ball up extremely precisely and with a lot of force on the first shot to get good carry in the pocket. That makes it only conditionally suited as a first-ball option in the long run. On heavily played lanes with extremely little oil, however, it can serve experienced players as a tactical last resort when even very weak reactive balls react to the transition too early and too strongly. Overall, the Pyramid Path should deliver absolute straightness and maximum predictability, completely regardless of what the current lane conditions look like.
