BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The 900 Global Origin Black Pearl comes in a deep, very elegant dark finish that carries a quiet presence on the lane. At the heart of this ball's performance sits the newly developed asymmetric Ellipse A.I. core. At a standard weight of 15 pounds, this core delivers a 2.48 RG, which means the ball wants to enter its roll phase relatively early. That RG is paired with a considerable 0.050 maximum differential and an extremely high 0.020 intermediate differential. These core specs point to very dynamic ball motion and are meant to enable a high degree of flare potential. The design also aims to keep the internal balance consistent so the core stores its power optimally. The outer shell is the reactive RB90 Pearl Reactive cover. To achieve the intended length down the lane, the surface ships polished to a high gloss with the special Power Edge finish. This smooth tuning of the cover should ensure the ball passes through the heads effortlessly and with minimal friction loss before the core technology takes full effect in the back third of the lane.
Comparison
Analytically, and against other models on the market, the 900 Global Origin Black Pearl occupies a very clear position. Compared to the original 900 Global Origin with its hybrid coverstock, the Black Pearl version glides noticeably more easily through the heads and stores more energy for a more explosive move at the breakpoint. Put it next to an aggressive solid like the Storm Phaze II and you see a fundamentally different ball motion. Where the Phaze II draws a very steady, early arc, the Origin Black Pearl stays on its original line considerably longer and reacts far more sharply at the end of the pattern. Against a 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl, the Origin Black Pearl offers a somewhat more controllable but still enormously strong asymmetric direction change. When symmetric pearls such as the 900 Global Xponent Pearl can no longer muster the power to come back from deep angles, the strong core in the Origin Black Pearl should have enough in reserve to cross a lot of boards effectively.
On the Lanes
In practical terms, the 900 Global Origin Black Pearl is built primarily for medium to high oil volume. It shows its greatest strengths when the initial pattern breaks down and transition changes the lane. In those phases, when sanded balls react too early to the developing friction and lose power, this pearl uses its polished cover to travel cleanly through the front third of the lane. Another important scenario is playing conditions where the front part of the lane is already broken down but still demands some length so the ball doesn't build traction too early. Once the ball meets friction in the drier area, the asymmetric core should produce an extremely sharp, powerful hook toward the pocket. If you have high ball speed, you'll benefit from the pronounced backend reaction that helps steer the ball into the pins at the right angle. If you have a moderate to low rev rate, the strong asymmetric design gives you the support you need to generate pronounced ball motion anyway. Ultimately, the construction aims to release the stored energy at the last possible moment for optimal carry and to clear the pins reliably.
