First Impressions
The Storm Optimus brings a striking red, white and blue pearl design to the lane. Inside works the hefty asymmetric Tri-Sphere core with a 2.480 RG, a strong 0.048 differential and a 0.013 intermediate differential. The cover is the R2X Pearl Reactive coverstock, finished out of the box with a heavily polished 1500 grit texture. Thanks to the low RG and the massive differential, the ball glides smoothly through the front part of the lane and bites down extremely hard in the backend to generate maximum asymmetry.

Comparison
Compared to the Storm Optimus Solid, the pearl version shows drastically less early traction and a far more angular overall reaction in the dry. Against a ball like the Storm Snap Lock, the Optimus delivers a very similar massive, sharp hook thanks to its strong asymmetric design. When the transition changes the lane and friction increases, the smooth surface uses the energy extremely well. It works very well on open lines.

On the Lanes
The Storm Optimus is most at home on medium lane conditions. It's an outstanding option if you're looking for a dependable and extremely strong, angular ball motion. The asymmetric core creates an absolutely sharp move, which builds confidence when playing deep lines. The ball should secure carry through an angular, forceful entry into the pocket. On extremely fresh oil it will inevitably miss the breakpoint.
