First Impressions
The Storm Optimus Supreme turns heads as an international release with its bright hybrid design. At its center works the massive asymmetric Tri-Sphere core, which carries a 2.480 RG, a strong 0.048 differential and a 0.013 intermediate differential. This core is wrapped in a modified hybrid reactive coverstock finished to a high gloss. The low RG lets the core rev up extremely quickly, which in combination with the smooth cover should let the ball get through the heads effortlessly and create a huge, angular move on the backend.
Comparison
Head to head with the Storm Optimus Solid, which uses a dull cover, the Optimus Supreme shows a drastically later and far more angular, dominant reaction. Compared to the Storm Snap Lock, the Optimus Supreme behaves very similarly, but the Tri-Sphere core often generates an even slightly more consistent direction change in the dry. Once the transition sets in during a block and friction on the outside boards increases, the extremely strong hybrid cover stores energy perfectly. It doesn't need a massive oil base in the heads.
On the Lanes
The Storm Optimus Supreme was developed for use on medium lane conditions. It lets you generate the hook you need even from deep angles to cross the boards effectively. The asymmetric core should optimize carry through a steady, heavy and consistent entry angle into the pocket. On extremely dry conditions this ball is completely unplayable; it overreacts immediately and misses the pins. On house patterns, though, it's a weapon.
