First Impressions
The Roto Grip No Rules Exist, released in August 2017, was designed primarily as an exclusive international release and represents the shiny pearl addition to the extremely powerful No Rules line. Its look is defined by a lively combination of yellow, white and red, which gives clear visual feedback about the ball's rotation on the lane. At the center of the ball works the proven asymmetric Chaotic Core. This core is characterized by specs built for maximum dynamics: a low RG of 2.51, a high differential of 0.053 and an intermediate differential of 0.019 (at 15 lbs). These numbers point to a ball that, despite its shiny surface, has considerable flare potential and starts working early enough in the midlane to ensure stability. This massive core is wrapped in the Amp Cell Pearl Reactive coverstock, a cover developed specifically to skid through the heads while still reacting strongly to friction. The factory finish is a 1500-grit polished finish, which gives the No Rules Exist high ball speed retention and a clean pass through the front part of the lane, while all the energy is stored for the backend.
Comparison Compared directly to the original Roto Grip No Rules (solid), the functional difference of the Exist version is immediately clear. While the original No Rules is known for handling maximum oil with its dull Micro DNA surface and a very early, arcing motion, the No Rules Exist offers considerably more length. It almost completely ignores the heads and reacts to friction much later, but then with a distinctly more angular and aggressive change of direction. Compared with the Storm Code Black, another asymmetric pearl giant of that era, the No Rules Exist shows a somewhat stronger midlane. While the Code Black is famous for its extreme skid-flip character, the Chaotic Core in the No Rules Exist provides a slightly more stable roll phase before the breakpoint, which makes it less prone to unpredictable reactions. Against the Roto Grip Hyper Cell Fused (hybrid), the No Rules Exist offers a bit more freedom in the heads, but works at the end of the oil pattern with comparable vehemence. Compared to symmetrical pearl balls such as the Roto Grip Hustle POW, the No Rules Exist is in a completely different performance class; the asymmetric core produces a far higher entry angle and clearly improved carry, especially when you are forced to play deep angles across a lot of boards.
On the Lanes The Roto Grip No Rules Exist is the ideal tool for medium to heavier oil conditions once the first transition on the lane has set in. When dull solid balls begin to lose too much energy in the heads and hit flat in the pins, the No Rules Exist allows the necessary move inside. Thanks to the polished pearl surface, it glides effortlessly over the already drier spots in the heads and only finds traction where it is needed for an optimal hook. It is excellent if you throw the ball fast and are looking for a ball that does not simply slide out in the backend, but instead shows a powerful recovery thanks to the strong asymmetric core. Bowlers with moderate rev rates also benefit from the built-in dynamics of the Chaotic Core, which helps generate the necessary entry angle into the pocket. In practice, this ball lets you open up the lane and play from deep angles without corner pin carry suffering. It is less suited to extremely dry wood, since the strong core could lead to overreaction there, and on completely fresh, extremely long oil it could slide too far without a surface adjustment. On typical house shots and moderate sport patterns, however, it is a dominant choice that combines backend aggressiveness with the reliability of a high-performance core.
